[DOUBLE-BILL A] Raffles’ Girls School (Secondary) + Orchid Park Secondary School present Fearful Symmetry + S
In Alan Haehnel's Fearful Symmetry, four girls in four different households are visited by a stranger with a disturbing
proposition: Push a button on an empty box and receive $20,000. The catch? When the button is pushed, someone will die. What
each girl decides creates the tension in this gripping one-act play.
What do you make of a young body lying sprawled on the concrete floor with eyes staring blankly at the HDB flat
towering in front of him? S centers on the life of a male teen who committed suicide. He was only 15. In the flashbacks leading up
to his suicide, S attempts to question some of the socio-political circumstances that may be connected to the tragedy.
[DOUBLE-BILL B] Tanjong Katong Girls’ School + Fairfield Methodist Secondary School present Lost Angel + Hamlet
A car accident. A death. What happens next? In Lost Angel, a young girl, named Angel, disillusioned by the violent
outbursts and abuse of her current boyfriend seeks refuge in a modern-hero Daniel. She does not realize that other-worldly entities
are vying for her soul. Who will get to possess Angel?
Hamlet, the famous Shakespearean tragedy of madness and revenge, is given a contemporary twist in this presentation by
the students of Fairfield Methodist Secondary School. As paranoia and despair grip Hamlet he embarks on a single-minded journey
to discover the truth.
[DOUBLE-BILL C] Kranji Secondary School + Geylang Methodist Secondary School present X-Country + Red, Red Shoes
A lost passport. A life in acme living colour. An email to one's mother. A grandmother's secret recipe. A son's plea. A
pilgram's enlightenment. The stories of 7 Singaporeans forced to confront their own beliefs and fears in their search for identity are
told in X-country, performed by the K Productions (Drama Team) from Kranji Secondary School.
Meanwhile Red Red Shoes tells a story of a girl called Franvera. On her 10th birthday, Franvera was given a pair of red
dancing shoes by her parents. She was going to be a dancer in the city ballet; she was going to dance for her country. But then war
came. “She danced like a bird and she was killed like a bird. She looked like an angel when she was dancing and she was like an
angel when she died”.
[DOUBLE-BILL D] Commonwealth Secondary School + Deyi Secondary School present Mama Looking for a Cat + The Trial of Bella T
In this adapted version of Kuo Pao Kun's play, we explore the increasing marginalization of the older population and the
breakdown in communication and the estranged relationship between a mother and her bilingual-speaking children. As language is
seen as a carrier of a whole system of culture, we see this collective history slowly eroding away as the children grew older.
The Trial Of Bella T is a devised piece by the students of Deyi Secondary School, based on the notion of being trapped.
At home, our protagonist Bella, a teenage girl, attempts to deal with overly emotional parents who have difficulties with anger
management. Because this is all she has ever known, she has become accustomed to their outbursts and believes that she is the main
cause of them.
