There's a drama competition coming up in the theme of Crime Prevention. I've attached the documents. Discuss it as a club and if you guys are interested to take part in this, we will do it. But then it means we will need to meet (after Mid year exams of course) to do it.

RULES AND REGULATIONS / TERMS AND CONDITIONS
BACKGROUD
1. The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) is a non-profit
organisation committed to promoting public awareness and concern about
crime and to propagate the concept of self-help in crime prevention. The
Council comprises volunteers from the commercial, industrial and public
sectors.
2. Acting as a catalyst and advisor, the NCPC works closely with the
community and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to raise the level of
public awareness on crime and its prevention, plan and develop crime
prevention programmes for the public, as well as coordinate efforts of
external organisations in crime prevention.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPETITION
1. To encourage the spirit of creativity and team building among the youth.
2. To enhance crime prevention awareness and knowledge on crime
prevention measures.
3. To provide a platform for students to express their ideas.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
(I) THEME
1. Students are allowed to either focus on just one topic or a combination of
topics within the scope of themes as follows:
(a) Rioting / Possession of Weapons
(b) Shop Theft / Theft (including handphone theft)
(c) Cyber crime
(d) Outrage of Modesty
(e) Robbery
(f) Snatch Theft
(g) Cheating / Phone Scam
(h) Misuse of sparklers
(II) CATEGORIES OF ENTRY
Category B: Secondary (Secondary 1 – 5)
(III) COMPOSITION OF PARTICIPANTS
1. Each entry must be submitted as a group effort, with a maximum of 6
members per team.
(IV) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. The competition is in English.
2. All participants must be current students of the school.
3. A brief synopsis of the presentation must be included with the entry.
4. Duration of Presentation
Qualifying Round: Maximum 10 minutes
Semi-Final & Grand Final: Maximum 15 minutes
5. Participants are required to provide their own costumes, props, sound
effects, music accompaniment and make-up.
6. Style of presentation to be any one or a combination of:
(a) drama
(b) musical
(c) dance and movement
7. Entries must be original work by participants.
8. The competition will be carried out in three phases, namely the Qualifying
Round, Semi-Final and the Grand Final. 12 teams from each category will
be selected for the Semi-Finals after which, 3 successful teams from each
category will advance to the Grand Final to compete for the first, second
and third placing of each category at a public performance.
(V) JUDGING CRITERIA
1. Entries will be assessed by an independent panel of judges based on the
following judging criteria:
• 30% - Content/Use of the theme - Overall composition of the skit in
relation to the given theme.
• 20% - Creativity/Originality – Level of novelty
• 20% - Entertainment Value – Audience appeal, overall quality of
performance and theme development
• 15% - Theatrical Quality – Quality of sound, diction and creative use of
props
• 10% - Evidence of Teamwork – Involvement of team members
• 5% - Fan Support - For the Grand Finals each team will be encouraged
to bring along up to 30 supporters from the school. Bonus points will be
given to teams on the number of supporters they bring along.
2. Teams that exceed the time limit will be penalised.
3. Teams in Categories A and B will be judged separately and the top 3
teams from both categories will proceed to the Grand Final.
4. Teams are encouraged to keep the cost of production low and to use
recycled materials where possible.
(VI) TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Decision of the judges is final and no appeal will be entertained.
2. All entries and materials submitted are copyrights of the organisers
(NCPC & SPF) and will not be returned to the participants.
3. The organisers reserve the rights to use or reproduce the materials (in
whole or part) submitted as content for publicity and crime prevention
public education purposes (Youth Crime Prevention Video). In the event a
video is to be produced, it will be at the organisers’ discretion to select
teams to perform in the video, hence, winning teams may not be selected
to act in the video.
4. All prizes are not transferable and all participants will be given a
Certificate of Participation.
5. The organisers reserve the rights to amend the rules and regulations and
the terms and conditions governing the competition without prior notice.
6. The organisers reserve the rights to reject incomplete submissions, or
submissions that may be considered inappropriate.
7. The organisers will not reimburse the participants any costs or expenses
incurred as a result of participating in the competition.
(VII) SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
1. The summary of the presentation must be typewritten, paginated with
double line spacing. A separate cover sheet with the following details
must be included with the entry:
(a) Title of skit
(b) Name of all team members
(c) Name of school, address and contact number
(d) Team leader and teacher-in-charge’s contact
2. The competition is organised for all primary and secondary schools in
Singapore, and all entries must be completed and submitted through the
participants’ school, bearing its official school stamp as endorsement of
entry.
3. Each school is encouraged to send in up to two teams.

5. Participants will be contacted within 2 weeks after entry closing date.
However, teams are encouraged to begin rehearsals early.
6. Entries failing to comply with any of the competition regulations will be
disqualified.
7. Winners will be invited to perform for the National Crime Prevention
Council’s and Singapore Police Force’s events and road shows.
(VIII) CLOSING DATE FOR REGISTRATION
1. All entries must be submitted to NCPC by Wednesday, 27 May 2009 (late
entries will not be accepted).
IX) PRIZES FOR EACH CATEGORY
• First Prize - $1,000 cash and plaque
• Second Prize - $800 cash and plaque
• Third Prize - $500 cash and plaque
• Merit Awards - $100 cash (5 teams per category, presented during
semi-finals)
(X) SCHEDULE OF COMPETITION
1. Participants/Schools to note the following schedule of the Competition:

(d) Semi finals 30 - 31 Jul 09 (Venue: Mountbatten CC)
(e) Full dress rehearsal 24 Aug 09 (Venue: Mountbatten CC)
(f) Grand final 25 Aug 09 (Venue: AMK Hub)
2. Participants will be notified on their performance schedule within 2 weeks
after entry closing date.
